FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At this time, appointment demand continues to exceed our available scheduling capacity. Extended wait times are not how we want to practice medicine, and we remain intentional about limiting new patient scheduling so we can preserve the level of care and continuity our patients expect.

While we are not offering open new patient scheduling, we continue to welcome patients into our screening process. After completing screening and all required intake paperwork, patients are added to our waitlist. Our clinical team reviews each case and contacts patients directly as appointments become available and appropriate for their care needs.

All new patients begin care with an in-person initial consultation and neurological examination at our Arizona office.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and trust as we continue working to expand access responsibly while maintaining the clinical standards that define our practice.

Please let us know if you are interested in our screening process.

Yes. After completing the in-person initial consultation, established patients may complete follow-up visits through telemedicine when clinically appropriate.

All new patients must complete an in-person initial consultation and neurological examination at our Arizona office. A comprehensive neurological exam cannot be performed over video, and this visit is required before telemedicine care can be offered.

Kelli Gill, DNP, FNP-C is licensed in both Arizona and New Mexico. Patients living in New Mexico must first complete an in-person initial consultation at our Arizona office. After this visit, follow-up care may be completed via telemedicine when appropriate.

Patients are scheduled based on clinical appropriateness. Our medical team determines which patients are best suited for each provider, and qualifying patients are contacted directly by our office when scheduling becomes available.

We are not currently accepting any new neuropathy or neuromuscular patients. Patients who are already established will continue to be followed.

As part of recent operational changes, diagnostic procedures that were previously offered in-house, such as autonomic testing (including TCD), EEG, EMG/NCV, and other neuromuscular studies, are now performed by a partnering neurology practice. If your provider recommends testing, our team will assist with coordinating the referral. The partner practice accepts insurance for these diagnostic services, which often results in substantially lower out-of-pocket expenses for patients.

Dr. Saperstein recently shared with our patients and community that he has been undergoing treatment for cancer. His treatments are responding well, and his doctors are optimistic for a full and lasting recovery.

Dr. Saperstein is gradually returning to clinic and has begun accepting a limited number of new patients from the waitlist. He is currently seeing patients via telemedicine only. His schedule remains limited and availability will expand gradually over time. Patients already on the waitlist will be contacted in the order their intake was completed.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness, encouragement, and understanding shown by our patients and community during this time. Your support means so much to Dr. Saperstein and our entire team.

Dr. Saperstein and his team are available from 8 am to 4 pm Mon-Tues and Thur-Fri to coordinate your care. We are available by phone, text (via Klara), email, and portal to make sure your health needs are met to include prescription refills, prior authorizations, or completion of needed forms. In addition, for many issues, telehealth consults will be available as an alternative to an office visit. Using your own phone, tablet, or computer you can video conference with Dr. Saperstein over a secure platform. Please click here for more information on this.

We provide expert diagnosis and treatment of selected diseases, to include Chiari Malformation, Cranial Cervical Instability, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, (EDS), Long Covid, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) & other Dysautonomias. Dr. Saperstein has over 20 years of experience diagnosing, treating and researching these conditions. In order to maximize the number of patients we can help, we will not be able to see everyone with these conditions. We truly do wish to focus on “complex” neurology cases. Therefore, every potential new patient will have their case reviewed by Dr. Saperstein and his team.

We specialize in adult complex patients 16 years old and above – patients with neuromuscular diseases, autonomic diseases, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.

We screen all our potential patients to ensure that we are the right practice for you. Each patient, no matter whether referred by another provider, needs to complete the screening process.

Dr. Saperstein and the Center for Complex Neurology, EDS & POTS want you to have a successful appointment. In working together on your care, we can provide you with the best of Dr. Saperstein’s expertise and an excellent experience for you, our patient.

We are pleased to offer telehealth appointments. We will be using Klara and Microsoft Teams, both secure and HIPAA-compliant services. By means of a cell phone, tablet, laptop, or computer with a camera and microphone, you can see and hear your providers at the Center for Complex Neurology, EDS & POTS.

In advance of your telehealth appointment time, we will send you a link. Please check out the link in advance of your appointment. This will allow you to make sure you will be able to connect successfully when the time comes for your appointment.

To help maximize the success of this encounter we encourage you to make a few additional preparations. Please plan out a private and quiet area with good lighting. Make arrangements for children and pets so they do not get in the way. Also, try to minimize noise from dogs or other pets.

For a patient visit, the doctor will need to examine you. Be ready to remove your shoes and socks and dress in a way that will allow him to see easily see your knees and elbows as well as your arms and legs. Also, please have a flashlight available to allow the doctor to see inside your mouth.

In order to utilize our telemedicine services, patients must first be seen in our office to establish care and receive an examination. This requirement is necessary because state medical board regulations do not allow us to establish a physician-patient relationship and practice medicine in states where we are not licensed.

We look forward to helping with your medical care.
